Abandoned to God - Oswald Chambers' Life
I'm a lover of missionary biographies, but this one is so different. It is the story of a highly influencial man, who was a chaplain and best known for his work "My Utmost for His Highest". The author, evangelist, and soldier (mostly for God, however, in the English army during World War I) spread the Good News of Christ and his redemptive work to everyone he met.
One instance of this epic verve to impart the life giving news of Christ's death and resurection and what it meant came when he felt called to go on a round-the-world trip, which at the time was accomplished by ship. By the end of one leg of the journey, on the S.S. Baltic, he had managed to speak of spiritual things to every one of the 1300 passengers "from the captain to the boy in the stokehold," said McCasland, author of this epic biography.
I haven't even finished the book and yet I could not wait to affirm my praise for it.
I'll update this blog with deeper reflections as the pages flow on, but it quickly making the list of my favorite missionary biographies!
