Springing to Life with the Song of all Songs

Today, a friend of mine gave me a passage from Song of Songs and I say “gave to me” because sharing that verse with me was nothing short of a gift.

It was the articulation of something I was fumbling around trying to say as I related that I felt like I was a tree springing back into life after a long winter. The verses spoke to me and for me and promised hope all at the same time.

And, it wasn’t hope in any of the crappy things of this world that let us down or that society tells us to hope in. It spoke of hope as it should be: to hope in our beloved, to hope in the love from our beloved, to have hope because we know we are loved by our beloved. It was a promise of love. And Oh, what freedom there is in feeling loved!

It’s not everyday, but today I have the giddy butterflies of new love and I have them from my Savior. Thank God for this moment, this feeling. I know all things are fleeting including this tangible, tingling reality of His love that I feel right now. Regardless of the fact that my enjoyment of the feeling may be fleeting, I can say with all confidence right now that I am fully confident His love is not fleeting.

That is what gives me hope.

I want to share the gift of this Scripture. So, enjoy. Be encouraged. Be hopeful.

Song of Songs 2:10-13 (NIV)

10 My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.

11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.

12 Flowers appear on the earth;

the season of singing has come,

the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;

the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.

Arise, come, my darling;

my beautiful one, come with me.”
